1. The Challenge: Eliminating Friction from Live Betting

The client’s existing multi-step betting flow required 4-5 interactions per wager, causing 23% of bets to be abandoned due to odds changes during the confirmation process. Session engagement was flat and the platform could not compete with faster-moving rivals. NoMoreBets needed a one-tap betting experience with sub-50ms odds delivery – fast enough that the price a user sees is the price they get.

Live odds change second by second, so the platform had to manage real-time updates and process bets instantly. Any delay could result in missed opportunities or frustrated players.

3. Our Engineering Approach

We brought a team with proven experience in high-load, real-time systems – specifically in gaming, sports betting and low-latency event processing. Our approach focused on eliminating every unnecessary millisecond from the bet placement path: optimizing WebSocket connections for instant odds push, designing a single-action UI that removes confirmation dialogs and building a risk engine that validates bets inline without adding perceptible delay.

The backend is built on Java with Spring Boot, providing a reliable core for processing bets at scale. Apache Kafka streams live odds, while Apache Flink ensures every update and bet is handled in real time.

We used React to build a sleek, responsive interface. The focus was on a mobile-first design, allowing players to place one-tap bets instantly, even during fast-paced matches.

Apache Cassandra manages high-volume betting data without downtime. Delta Lake arranges historical data for analysis, while Apache Pinot supports live dashboards. The platform operates on Kubernetes with Istio for managing service traffic, all deployed on AWS for resilience and global scalability.

The system connects directly to odds providers for real-time market updates. Secure payment gateways and wallet integrations ensure smooth deposits, withdrawals, and payouts.
